ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURE
INTRODUCTION
The culture of an organization is the sole determinant of the functioning of san organization. A leader of an organization has to understand and create a culture in an organization. Culture is something that transcends the professional as well as the informal activities of a business unit. All the activities that are conducted by an organization should be looked at in the context of the culture that is existent in that unit. For example, the working style of a TATA employee and a Reliance employee would be inherently different.
All the multinational companies tend to have a strong and influential organizational behaviour and a work culture. When we here the name Apple we almost certainly get the image it's pioneer Steve Jobs. What made Steve Jobs a great leader was the fact that he was ready to win the minds of his employees and share his vision with them. All of these things are not possible without a strong and all pervasive organizational work culture.
For instance the Indian company Tata Sons is a conglomerate which has numerous brands under it's umbrella. All of these companies have one thing in common. The monetary and non-monetary incentives that are present in these companies are excellent. An example of organizational culture in terms of the company TATA can be seen in the below mentioned incident. When terrorists attacked the hotel Taj in Mumbai, not even a single employee of the hotel ran away. All the employees of the staff remained in the hotel and saved as many guests as possible. this is the perfect depiction of how the company you work in shapes the way in which you perceive your tasks and duties. This attitude has led the conglomerate to have a joint valuation of around 250 billion $.
However, on the contrary it can also be seen that the company's that have a negative organizational culture tend to get destroyed in maximum one or two generations. Here, we would understand it with the help of the example of the company Kodak. This company had a lion's share in the camera market. It is known that the company destroyed itself by not making a transition to the digital camera market from the traditional film camera. It is not a known fact that the first digital camera was created by the kodak company. Due to the lack of proper organizational communication the company which created an innovative product got finished by not implementing it.
Now we would understand the factors that should be present in order to have a successful organizational culture.
1. FOUNDATION
If a company has to become successful in terms of organizational behaviour then, it has to have clear mission statements, vision and moto. By have a clarity in these domains will help the company in making strong decisions which are beneficial for the company in the ling run.
2. CORRECT ACQUISITION OF EMPLOYEES
The applicants of a company should only be hired in the company if along with the required skills of the job they also possess the qualities which are required to become a organizationally committed employee.
3. CONVERTING YOUR BRAND INTO A MISSION
In order to drive the motivation and productivity of the employees, they should be made to understand the reason due to which the company conducts it's activities. It can be as simple as making the life of all their customers better.
4. JOB SATISFACTION
Job satisfaction is what drives the employees to an organization. If the employees of an organization are secure then they can comfortably increase their output without increasing the level of stress on the employees.
The Factors due to which an organizational structure is critical in organization are as follows:-
1. Improved employee productivity
2. Decrease in the labour turnover rate
3. The creation of organizational loyalty
4. A progressive organizational environment
CONCLUSION
Thus, it can be concluded that a strong organizational structure is the need of the hour for all the organizations. Ordinary employees have the capability to deliver extraordinary results provided they have proper support from the organization and there is a creation of a positive organizational culture.
